Mechanism of Action

Apta-1 has a unique mechanism of action (MoA) that allows simultaneous control of coagulation and inflammation, without tilting the balance towards excessive bleeding and immune suppression. This multi-mechanistic profile makes Apta-1 to a suitable drug candidate for sepsis and other acute inflammatory conditions.

Aptahem develops aptamer-based drugs to treat acute and life-threatening conditions through their smaller size and high binding specificity. By uniquely binding thrombin, Apta-1 rapidly leads to both anti-coagulative and anti-inflammatory effects while avoiding serious side effects such as excessive bleeding and over suppression of the immune system.
